Job Summary

The Department of Veterinary Science’s Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center at the University of Kentucky is seeking a 12-month tenure-track faculty, Assistant or Associate Professor. The Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center has considerable expertise in a number of areas and has an established national and international reputation in the equine reproduction field. The mission of the Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center is to conduct research on diseases that affect the health and welfare of the horse, which are consistent with the needs of the local, national, and international horse industry.

The initial appointment will be at the assistant or associate professor rank, with an annually expected assigned distribution of effort typically of 80% research, 15% teaching, and 5% service. The appointee will be administratively responsible to the Chair of the Department of Veterinary Science.

The position appointee will focus on advancing knowledge and understanding of horse reproductive physiology and diseases. Disseminating scientific information that will benefit the health and well-being of horses via peer-reviewed journal articles and other venues is expected. The faculty member will be encouraged to collaborate with other faculty in the department and elsewhere to develop a nationally recognized research program in equine reproduction. The appointee will be expected to garner extramural funding for his/her research program and to interact with industry stakeholders. As a Graduate Faculty member, the appointee is expected to participate in the training of graduate students and post-doctoral scholars/fellows. The appointee will also be expected to develop and teach course offering(s) in the undergraduate equine sciences and management program. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020, and the appointment is subject to formal approval by the University administration and the Board of Trustees.
