The Assistant Digital Media Producer will be a critical member of the Museum Public Affairs team responsible for the redesign, rebuild, reorganize, and maintenance of the Museum's pages on the getty.edu website, with the aim to better serve our audiences, meet our institutional goals, and build our content ecosystem.

Working with key stakeholders and supervisors, the Assistant Digital Media Producer will assist in the migration and updating of existing pages on getty.edu that have been earmarked for retention. He/she will manage making the necessary updates to those pages to migrate them into new design templates generated by the digital team in the Trust and track progress towards this effort.

Additionally, the successful candidate will work with a variety of stakeholders in the Museum and under the guidance of the supervisory team in the department to help create new content for getty.edu as required by the expansion of the website to include more story-telling elements. This will include helping brainstorm new content and managing production assignments aimed at developing this content. He/she will also be responsible for uploading approved content using the Getty's content management system (CMS). This responsibility will necessitate the sourcing of images and working with other departments in the Museum to ensure rights approvals on image use for the web.

The Assistant Digital Media Producer will be responsible for digital content assignments, owning and tracking on them from inception through to launch.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual who is comfortable operating independently but knows how to properly share progress reports with their supervisor. He/she should have a solid understanding of online platforms and have experience managing content for digital projects in an iterative, fast-paced environment. They would ideally also have experience writing, editing, and producing useful digital content for varied audiences.

Located in the Public Affairs department of the Getty Museum, one of the more outward facing programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust, this position will be responsible for managing pages on getty.edu related to the curatorial and conservation departments, as well as general Museum information pages. The position will also help develop new content for a proposed news section on getty.edu by helping prepare materials from various Museum departments for this section.


  • Own and manage a set of discrete assignments and deliverables that ladder up to the larger Trust-wide website redesign project.
  • Populate and manage a complex digital production calendar, using project management tools to successfully manage all stages of assignments.
  • Collaborate with supervisor, team, and stakeholders to identify scope of tasks and deliverables associated with assignments.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and communicate diplomatically with a broad range of staff to generate and deliver content.
  • Edit, write, and revise content for new and existing web pages, iterating this process numerous times across wireframes and copydecks throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Manage content assets, gathering and organizing, ensuring content elements meet technical requirements, and check that rights are clear.


  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Experience in digital production environment using one or more digital distribution channels such as social media, web, blogs, wikis, etc.
