Job Summary | The College of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health seeks to expand its environmental health program capacity in exposure science. This open-rank, tenure-eligible position is open for a qualified faculty member at any level who will conduct high-quality environmental health and/or environmental epidemiology research in collaboration with faculty members across the UK campus. The 12-month assignment period position in the Regular Title Series includes teaching, along with research mentorship to students and service on master’s and doctoral committees. The selected candidate will serve on appropriate committees and professional organizations on a regional or national level, along with appropriate College, University, and departmental committees. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2023 or sooner. The successful candidate will contribute to the College of Public Health mission by: 1) establishing and maintaining a strong record of collaborative research, extramural funding, and publication in the area of environmental health and/or environmental epidemiology; 2) actively participating in the teaching and mentoring of public health students; and 3) providing service on appropriate committees and professional organizations. UK is home to a vibrant and growing environmental health community, which includes multidisciplinary research and engagement partnerships via several centers and institutes, including the P30 UK Center for Appalachian Research in the Environmental Sciences, the P42 UK Superfund Research Center, and a new university-wide Center for the Environment. The anticipated distribution of effort is Research/Scholarly Activity 60-70%; Teaching and Advising 15-20%; Service 10%; Professional Development 5%. Distribution of effort is negotiated annually with the department chair and may be adjusted as necessary. Successful candidates will be expected to apply their exposure science expertise to address University priority research areas, including aging, cancer, substance use, cardiovascular disease, and neurodevelopment. Other priority areas include geospatial modeling, air quality assessment, disaster research, factors related to climate and health, environmental justice and social determinants of health. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a closely related terminal degree with an existing research focus on environmental health and/or environmental epidemiology research. Compensation will be competitive and aligned with the successful candidates experience and the responsibilities associated with this position.
