Completion of approved fellowship(s) in Transfusion Medicine or appropriate discipline within the broad scope of pathology.

Previous experience in transfusion medicine and HLA laboratory services or experience in similar laboratories.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Certification or eligibility by the American Board of Pathology in clinical pathology

Job Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky is recruiting a board certified AP/CP or CP pathologist. The successful candidate would join an academic hospital-based practice and engage in clinical laboratory service, collaborative research and teaching duties. Experience or fellowship training in clinical laboratory management particularly in the areas of transfusion medicine, microbiology, or HLA is desirable. This open-rank position is available July 1, 2020 and will remain open until the appropriate individual is recruited.

The department (http://pathology.med.uky.edu/) is an integrated department of pathology with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows as well as research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center. There is a strong institutional commitment to maintain and enhance research and clinical excellence within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.

Knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments.

Ability to relate and communicate with internal and external faculty, staff, and other clients of this department.
