API and Data Taxonomy Lead

As part of the CTO Organization, the API and Data Taxonomy team is passionate about finding ways to elevate our data so that we can leverage it as an asset. It is an often overlooked and complicated problem to solve, and we cannot do it without having the best talent moving us forward and thinking 'outside the box'.


  • Maintain tools, processes and associated documentation related to the canonical business glossary and taxonomies.
  • Build, deploy and manage software development tools/environments as required by the team (Rally, Jira, Git and others)
  • Ability to operate as a self-driven leader and evangelist for data standardization, harmonization, and operationalization.
  • Build scalable tools and processes to serve the growing business and developer communities.
  • Build a knowledgebase and enable the developers to self-service.
  • Foster the developer community and build trust.
  • Build data solutions where the problem is not well defined.
  • Be responsible for the implementation and growth of certain elements within the ADP API and Data Taxonomy Tool Suite.
  • Interact with other teams to solve problems related to data and implement high impact, innovative solutions.
  • Take the initiative to determine how a solution should work and share your opinion if you identify a better approach.
  • Continue to develop professionally by means of education, certification, or mentorship with a more seasoned team member.


  • 10+ years of experience developing enterprise applications, focusing on data persistence and integrations
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
  • Experience with data integration via RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with data integration technologies and platforms; (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies, preferably Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Aurora, and other AWS RDS cloud offerings
  • Hands-on experience designing and building complex software solutions that have been successfully delivered to customers, meeting all published SLAs
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices using Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Experience using low-code platforms for rapid application development (e.g., Power Apps)
  • Knowledge of domain-driven design concepts
  • Experience with Node.JS, JSON, Python, Java, Groovy, Spring
  • Hands on knowledge of command line utilities, scripting, tuning, virtualization approaches, etc. across multiple OS platforms (e.g., Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc.)

  • Abstract Thinking: view of ideas and solutions as abstractions/patterns that can be leveraged/adapted/reused -- deliver frameworks instead of point solutions.
