Responsibilities:
The Senior Analytic EDI Engineer combines the roles of architect, developer and analyst to design and build big data solutions, including EDI files and exchanges.  This position plays a key role in building and maintaining the companys cutting edge analytic capabilities for healthcare. File types include Healthcare claims for medical, pharmacy, dental and other claim types and for all EDI file structures, including 837, 277, 835, 270 and 271. The skillset for this role spans software development, business analysis, and complex system design.  Additionally, this position will interface with other sites to coordinate analytical work packages when the analytical workload demands increases, along with interfacing with other personnel to verify and validate analytical results through comparison to empirical data.

Performs analysis as required to support EDI exchange setup, file development and troubleshooting for clean file transactions. Resolves complex EDI issues.
Maintains high quality in the management of data, ensuring data is cleansed and normalized for optimal results and that full traceability is maintained in the data lifecycle, including through all transformations and EDI transaction processes.
Ensures claims and eligibility data is mapped into the proper format for successful submission of EDI files, claim forms and other modes of data exchange.
Responsible for the development of EDI tools, standardization, and other engineering tool initiatives as defined by management.
May make technical recommendations on engineering approach for new or modified products to optimize system and component designs. 
May prepare and present technical presentations for internal or external audiences
Communicates analytical results with engineering staff, management and customers through preparation of reports and presentations as necessary.
Responsible for data engineering tool development and standardization and other engineering tool initiatives as defined by engineering management.
Supports Chief Engineering Office with expertise input and subject knowledge.
May represent the Design Assurance group in component design reviews.
Supports business units with expertise input and subject knowledge.
Works independently on significant project components with minimal supervision and direction.
Perform duties as required and assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of EDI standards to develop and support complex integration projects
Possesses a strong analytical aptitude with ability to data trends and patterns
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent communication skills can translate complex technical lingo into plain English and also communicate verbally with clients and other engineers well.
Takes part in continuing education to keep abreast of new research and ideas, technology & market trends.
Is creative can think of new and innovative ways to develop new products and make existing products work more efficiently.
Think logically with ability to make sense of complex systems and leverage strong problem solving skills to discover root causes.
Able to develop mathematically complex calculations of varying difficulty and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical reference.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems and develop solutions
Team player collaborates effectively within the department and cross functionally.
Excellent technical knowledge understands a variety of computer programs and other systems that are commonly used during an engineering project.
Knowledgeable with statistics and other mathematical techniques.
Completion of Teleworker Agreement upon hire, and adherence to the Agreement (and related policies and procedures) including, but not limited to: able to navigate computer and phone systems as a user to work remote independently using on-line resources, must have high-speed internet connectivity, appropriate workspace able to be compliant with HIPAA, safety & ergonomics, confidentiality, and dedicated work focus without distractions during work hours.
 


Physical Requirements:

Sit/stand/walk 8-10 hour/day
Lift/carry/push/pull under and over 10lbs occasionally
Keying frequency, handling, reaching, fine manipulation
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree required (Masters preferred) in Mathematics, Computer Engineering, IT or related fields.
Experience working with inbound and outbound interfaces for various transaction sets
10+ years relevant progressive technical and systems experience for file integration and data conversion, including EDI
5+ years experience with Data Mining and Data Analytics experience for the conversion, integration, manipulation and analysis of very large data sets
3+ years experience with Data Mining and Data Analyst techniques
Experience in transforming, cleaning, and manipulating raw data.
Experience with healthcare data types strongly preferred, including claims for medical, pharmacy, dental and other claim types.
Experience with X12 HIPPA, and healthcare data transactions preferred (i.e.837, 277, 835, 270 and 271)
Familiarity with statistics and other mathematical techniques
UNIX/Linux experience
Competence with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, Perl)
Advanced Excel experience
