Analyst I, QC Environmental Monitoring

This is a laboratory testing position with the major responsibilities being daily routine testing and laboratory maintenance tasks. Additional responsibilities involve quality systems support.

Environmental Monitoring Responsibilities

  • Perform general laboratory duties including, but not limited to:
    • Clean laboratory areas/glassware
    • Biosafety Cabinet Monthly Cleaning
    • Safety equipment upkeep including eyewash stations
    • Transfer and dispose of biohazard waste and chemicals
    • Receipt and documentation of samples
    • Monitoring of Controlled Temperature Units
    • Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System for data entry, job, and sample creation
    • File completed raw data
    • Initiate work notifications and perform routine equipment maintenance activities
  • Proficient in performing laboratory testing including, but not limited to:
    • Examination of viable plates for microbial growth
    • Total Microbial Count Testing
    • Bacterial Endotoxin Testing
    • Total Organic Carbon Testing
    • Conductivity Testing
  • Proficient in collection of aseptic environmental samples:
    • Sampling of utilities systems (Clean-steam, Water systems, and gas delivery systems)
    • Aseptic sampling of the manufacturing suites
    • Administer Gowning Certification
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of compliance/guidance/regulations

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifies and supports change and continuous improvement using LEAN practices such as 5S and Kaizen.
  • Identify areas for improvement within scope of work

Problem Solving

  • Works on problems of simple to moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Follows good laboratory practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

Bachelors degree in an applied science with 0-2 years of experience, or equivalent related experience in cGMP biologics/pharmaceutical Quality Control
Proficiency in MS Office products or comparable word-processing and spreadsheet applications is required.
Previous experience with analytical or microbiology techniques in a GMP manufacturing environment is preferred.
An understanding of cGMP, CFR, USP, and aseptic processing guidelines is preferred.
