Physical Requirements

Sitting for long periods of time, walking to patient appointments, lifting objects less than 20 pounds, computer typing, repetitive motion using computer.

Shift

Day shift, 8am-5pm with some holiday requirements; hours and days of the week subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department.

Job Summary

Overseeing the daily operation of sterile compounding within the specialty pharmacy in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as accreditation standards and contractual obligations. Responsibilities include: Directs, oversees and supervises activities of all assigned personnel. Provides education and training specific to compounded sterile products. Compounds patient specific sterile preparations for dispensing using aseptic technique. Participate in the specialty pharmacy distribution process. Maintains knowledge of USP chapter 797 and 800 to assure the quality, sterility and stability of compounded sterile preparations. Manage daily operations of the sterile compounding space. Participates in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area. Responsible for supervising PharmD students, technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience

Experience with home infusion; hospital infusion centers; and Specialty Pharmacy; Board certified in Specialty Pharmacy.
