This position is a 12-month term position.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Communication

  • Coordinates department publicity activity including work in multiple media, such as drafting brochures and newsletters, to coordinate a range of department publications/communications.
  • Drafts and proofreads memos and correspondence for supervisor review.
  • Maintains cognizance of working within a diverse community and enhancing diversity and acts appropriately regarding diversity in dealing with others.
  • Maintains and updates departmental website with current news, course information, undergraduate and graduate program information, and other department information. Generates content for website based on input from faculty and other members of the department.
  • Prepares communications for graduate and undergraduate students regarding program requirements and deadlines.
  • Handles confidential or sensitive information, exercises discretion concerning its disposition.

Information Management

  • Maintains department undergraduate and graduate student files and databases (e.g. student grades, enrollment, department information) to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information.
  • Maintains departmental calendar to be shared with PBS community, tracking events planned by several different groups within the department.

General Office and Academic Support

  • Assists with hiring process for lab staff within PBS , ensuring process is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Assists with faculty hiring by placing ads in various online venues.
  • Assists with other projects as needed.
