Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 50lbs; standing or walking with objects 10-25lbs; regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasional exposure to loud noises, hazardous chemicals and fumes, and blood-borne/airborne pathogens; occasional dealings with combative or violent people; and occasional (<10% of the time) job-related travel.


Day shift with some holidays and weekends per business needs. This position will have 24-hour accountability.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare is seeking an Administrator for Capacity Management who will direct the activities of the units responsible for patient flow throughout the enterprise. This position will provide direction and consultation to direct reports and all others who impact patient admission, bed allocation, discharge, and nursing resources and availability to ensure quality patient care. The Administrator will act as a communication link between the UKHC enterprise community, including Chandler, Good Samaritan, and Kentucky Children’s hospitals, and overall University staff and administration. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a budget (personnel, variable, equipment, and capital), as well as ensuring compliance with TJC standards regarding patient flow.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess experience in resource and project management; experience working with large and complex processes; have the ability to lead and facilitate projects, taking into account divergent demands while managing scope and timelines; demonstrates strong analytical and qualitative research experience; have an excellent medical terminology background; be well organized; exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); enjoy working independently as well as closely with their co-workers in a supportive team environment; outstanding computer skills (to include Microsoft Office); excellent customer service skills; strong ability to engage and motivate others; active listening skills; and understanding of budget/accounting principles.

MSN with an emphasis on administrative focus preferred.
