Amherst College invites applications for the position of Accounts Receivable Clerk. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is a part-time, term position, job group and level AO-2. The Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the work of the Finance Department. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for batching and submitting daily bank deposits; and the classification and control of college cash receipts (excluding gifts), which includes accounts receivable, student loans, general receipts, outside miscellaneous scholarships, petty cash, and tuition deposits. The clerk takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Summary of Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Entry
Enter data accurately and efficiently into the accounting system
Enter miscellaneous billing charges and/or credits on accounts (payment plans for students, dining services, facilities, telephone charges, and other items)
Enter data for student cash refund requests and
Receivables
Review and verify each remittance advice
Create copies of checks as needed
Record deposit information in bank deposit log
File and retain all documentation
Process all payments received via mail or online
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of related work experience
Strong attention to detail
Proficient in MS Excel
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, data entry, and written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
