Job Description and Responsibilities:



Bank of America is seeking an experienced underwriter to extend custom mortgages to of private banking clients. Works closely with private banking relationship managers in structuring loans to meet the clients' requirements or in reviewing credit standards. Independent underwriting focusing on complex loan structure and financial analysis with loan size range from $2MM to $20MM and over. Possesses some loan approval authority. Minimum of seven to ten years of credit experience. Underwriting tasks include the preparation of the credit approval package, complex tax return and personal financial statement analysis, risk rating evaluation, credit bureau review, marketable securities analysis, review of the background check, pipeline management and other duties as needed. Responsibilities also include adherence to Credit Policy guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements. In addition, this individual may be asked to participate in special projects as needed. Critical thinking skills and the ability to judgmentally evaluate loan requests are essential to success in this position.



Required Skills:



Minimum of seven to ten years lending background in a traditional lending discipline, such as commercial, community, or private banking.



Ability to analyze complex personal and business financial statements, tax returns and cash flows in order to underwrite Custom Mortgages ranging in size from $2MM to $20MM and above.



Negotiation experience is a significant benefit as well as exposure to a consumer lending environment.



Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and be willing to mentor junior underwriters.



College degree is required, with a preference for business administration, finance, accounting or economics majors.



Credit skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate clearly across all lines of business while handling multiple priorities are mandatory.



Highly fluent in MS Excel and Word.



Desired Skills:



Experience in commercial and/or residential real estate lending.



Accounting background is beneficial as well as familiarity with PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Visio.



Prefer formal credit training at a major U.S. bank, but alternative financial analysis experience may suffice.



Company Owned Job Description:



Extends credit to and monitors loan portfolios of private banking clients. Works closely with private banking relationship managers in structuring loans to meet the clients' requirements or in reviewing credit standards. May provide guidance to more junior specialists but does not have management responsibilities. Possesses some loan approval authority. Typically requires 5+ years of credit experience. Formal commercial credit training and/or commercial credit underwriting experience preferred.
