SAIC is currently hiring an Electrical Engineer (0-5 years of experience) Location: Huntsville/ Redstone Arsenal, Alabama

Job Description

Reviewing documents, and drawings produced by other engineers and drafting personnel. Coordinating with various engineers and other disciplines. Performing checkout of provided equipment and developing and documenting procedures. Developing schematics, parts lists, wiring diagrams and assembly diagrams. Interfacing with electronic interfaces (RS422, Ethernet, CAN Bus, servo motor controllers, etc.). Selecting hardware to meet government/military production requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze fielded power applications and identify alternative methods to improve/optimize established equipment, processes and/or procedures. Provide detailed theoretical and practical applications of potential solutions which will lead to evolutionary and/or revolutionary power paradigm shifts. Quantify the costs and benefits associated with each detail oriented design/solution and be able to effectively organize, present and explain the results.

Design and implement a modern modular scalable power grid concept for small, medium and large scale operations that will reduce costs without sacrificing the operational readiness of the system of systems (potentially including low- voltage and medium-voltage equipment: Transformers, Inverters, Switchgear, Grounding and Lightning Protection.) Proactively monitor/consider technology advances in the energy domain (ex, photovoltaics, turbine efficiency, chemical composition of batteries, current carrying alloys, generator designs, etc.) for inclusion in future designs. Inspect completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards. Support other individual and group tasks as assigned. Valued Cross Domain Experience.

Qualifications:
Requirements/Qualifications:

Electrical engineer with research, design, test and/or evaluation experience. Successful candidates must be capable of providing innovative power solutions to more efficiently power existing and future government and military systems.

Educational requirements:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering university with experience working on electrical power infrastructure design and optimization. Must be able pass background check and acquire a SECRET clearance. Integrity, ingenuity and commitment are critical values required for this position.
